Sunday Together b'Teva (in Nature) Gathering:
Celebrating the Birthday of the Trees
Where? Ocean Song Farm & Wilderness Center in Occidental
What? Prepare for the winter holiday of Tu b'Shvat with Jewish nature-connection activities for the Hebrew month, exploring the land & trees of Ocean Song, and engaging in song, study, & games.
Some whole group time; some separate adult-only or children-only activities. Depending on the age of the children, adults should stay with their child or can join the adult-only activities. Please let us know what you are planning to do!
How much? Suggested donation: $36 adults/$25 children.
Who? This program is for the families, singles, and adults and children of all ages (who are ready to be in the outdoors and exploring among the trees).
Adult-only time will include of contemplative space in the woods, focusing on a classic Martin Buber text for deepening one's I/Thou relationship with the natural world.
This year we are excited to be joined in the morning by guest teacher Rebecca Schisler, a Wilderness Torah educator who has recently relocated to Occidental and has a rich background to bring to our programming. Together with Rabbi Daria, she'll be working with the children's group in the morning when we separate.
And here's a little more about Rebecca: Rebecca discovered the magic of earth-based Jewish community at Eden Village Camp in 2012, where she worked for three years and developed a rites of passage program for teens. Her passions include regenerative culture, depth psychology and holistic health, and she is particularly interested in integrating spiritual practice, embodiment and creative process. She found home in the world of rites-of-passage during a summer of threshold-crossing and vision questing with Golden Bridge and School of Lost Borders in Colorado upon her college graduation.
Rebecca holds a BA in Studio Art from Wesleyan University. She currently resides deep in the redwoods of Sonoma County, where she also teaches yoga and makes art.
Advance registration highly suggested by TUESDAY, JANUARY 12. Register below now!
