Fire & Stars
In attuning to the seasons, Zmanim's Saturday/Shabbat gatherings are shifting. It's getting darker earlier, which means that Shabbat ends earlier. At our Fire & Stars gatherings we come together late afternoon to relax into the remaining hours of Shabbat together before transitioning into the very sweet end-of-Shabbat (havdalah) rituals together. When possible, the lighting of the havdalah candle and conclusion of these rituals will lead into a campfire together. For this Fire & Stars, Josh will be sharing an adult teaching for Hanukkah.
Join us, from 4-7:30ish!
~ 4 p.m Shabbat time! (Nature and board games, relax, sing, etc.)
~ 4:45 p.m. Official "Welcome" and story
~ 5 p.m. Veggie/Dairy/Kosher fish potluck dinner*
~ 5:30 p.m. Look for 3 stars!* (Havdalah rituals to separate between Shabbat and the rest of the week), leading into more stories and songs around a fire (indoors or outdoors, weather permitting). Do you know that Judaism has a rich, resource of folktales and legends? Come hear, and share, stories of witches, kings, magic, and more!
*Note- the precise timing of havdalah and the meal will vary each month depending on when we can see the stars. Some months we'll eat first; some months we'll mark havdalah first!
